There are a lot of ways to clean Brass jewelry, and unless you have a precious gemstone or vintage piece of glass, you can use household products to buff and shine your jewelry. Below I'm going to give you several different options on how to clean your Brass jewelry.
Option 1: Chemical clean
There is a great method I use to clean my brass rings and necklaces. I make a chemical solution that is 2 parts white vinegar, and one part peroxide. Drop your jewelry into a glass jar with the solution. Let sit for 20 minutes to an hour. You will begin to see your solution turn blue. Dispose of this down the drain or toilet and rinse your jewelry thoroughly.
Option 2: Lemon and Baking Soda Scrub
- Squeeze half a lemon into your bowl.
- Add your baking soda.
- Stir the baking soda and lemon mix until it forms a delicious smelling paste.
- Use a soft cloth and apply the paste.
- Rinse off the paste and dry.
- When you're done, give the brass a really thorough rinse.
Option 3: Steel Wool
Use 0000 fine steel wool from Lowe's. It's messy so make sure you're using it outside or in a workspace. Also watch out for super fine splinters they're a pain in the ass. This works great. Follow up steel wool with a polishing cloth.
Option 3: Polishing Cloth
Buy a sunshine cloth. It's a microscrub with polishing agent that'll keep your Brass shiny and brilliant for a while. They're great. I use them to buff up oxidized rings before I ship.
